Spiker or Speak. To make the computer speak in Polish

( "Spiker czy Speak. Aby komputer mówił po Polsku" Biuletyn Informacyjny Polskiego Związku Niewidomych )

Excerpt

"The Spiker TTS which can interest mainly blind people is the effect of the latest work. It enables visually impaired people to use a computer on their own. The research on the Spiker 1.0 was finished in September 2001. The latest version of this programme (the Spiker 2.0) will appear in few weeks. This TTS is the cheapest in the market and its programme interface MS SAPI makes cooperating it with popular screenreaders and other applications easy."

"We still carry on the research on the Spiker - Łukasz Osowski says. We want to give the blind in Poland the software that will not only be cheap but will also have a high quality. Right now, we are working on improving the voice synthesis algorithm which is used in the Spiker and gives close to human - sounding voice quality."

The baby among gabbers

( "Beniaminek wsród gadaczy" Gosc niedzielny, autor: Henryk Szczepanski )

Excerpt

"I've visited the IVO Software website and downloaded the [Spiker] demo. When I had it installed I could see how it workes with screenreader Window Eyes 4.11. I must admit that the voice, male and female as well, sounded more natural comparing with others TTS available in Poland. What's more I've found even borderland-like voice stress in it."
